Empowering Communities: A Look Back at 2024 with Belie Health Foundation

As we reflect on the past year, we are filled with gratitude and pride for the strides we’ve made in our mission to create healthier, educated, and empowered communities. At Belie Health Foundation (BHF), 2024 was a year of impactful initiatives, meaningful collaborations, and transformative programs that touched the lives of countless individuals in Cameroon and beyond.

Health: A Foundation for Thriving Communities

In 2024, BHF continued to prioritize health, focusing on both non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and sexual and reproductive health (SRH).

NCDs Awareness and Prevention: From free health screenings in Muea Buea to a World Heart Day webinar, we educated communities on managing conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and obesity. Our International Volunteer Day campaign, in collaboration with MINJEC and CIACP, provided essential health services, including HIV screening and counseling.
SRH Education: We expanded our Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) program, reaching over 300 adolescents in three schools. Through workshops on menstrual hygiene and breastfeeding support, we empowered women and girls with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about their health.

Education: Bridging the Gap for Vulnerable Children

The Community Kids Learning Club (CKLC) remained a cornerstone of our efforts to provide quality education to children affected by the anglophone crisis. In 2024, we:

Enrolled 25 children in our CKLC program, offering academic support, extracurricular activities, and creative arts sessions.
Provided back-to-school support to 10 needy children, ensuring they had the supplies and resources to succeed academically.

Women and Youth Empowerment: Building a Brighter Future

Empowering women and youth is key to sustainable development. This year, we:

Trained 20 youths in pastry-making and supported two female survivors of violence through tailoring training, equipping them with income-generating skills.
Organized leadership and mental health workshops for youth, fostering resilience and advocacy skills.
Launched the She Is Project, providing educational, psychosocial, and entrepreneurial support to survivors of sexual violence.

Collaborations and Recognition

Our work would not be possible without the support of our partners and the dedication of our team. In 2024, we:

Participated in the CSO Impact Conference, the Pangolin Comic Kids Project, and the Training of Trainers program on peacebuilding.
Received the prestigious Best Promoter of SDG 4 – Quality Education award at the National Conference for Local Organizations, a testament to our commitment to inclusive education.

Looking Ahead: Our Goals for 2025

As we look to the future, we are excited to build on the progress we’ve made. Our goals for 2025 include:

Establishing a fully equipped library and learning center to support rural children and youth.
Expanding our SRH education programs to reach 20,000 individuals.
Empowering 60 women and girls with income-generating skills and providing leadership training to 50 youth.
