Empowering Young Minds: Belie Health Foundation Launches Community Kids Library & Learning Center in Buea

In response to the educational challenges faced by children in the Southwest and Northwest regions of Cameroon due to the ongoing Anglophone crisis, the Belie Health Foundation (BHF) has initiated the Community Kids Library and Learning Center project in Muea, Buea. This initiative aims to provide displaced and underprivileged children with access to quality educational resources and structured learning programs.

Addressing the Educational Crisis

The conflict has disrupted learning opportunities for thousands of children, particularly in rural areas like Muea, where many schools struggle to operate fully. Recognizing this pressing need, BHF’s project seeks to bridge the educational gap by establishing a safe, resource-equipped space for learning and development.

Project Objectives and Expected Outcomes

  • Establishment of a Well-Equipped Library: Serving over 1,000 children in Muea and its environs, the library will offer access to quality educational materials and resources.
  • Structured Educational Support: Through the Community Kids Learning Club, at least 100 underprivileged children will receive guidance and support in 2025.
  • Community Engagement: Educational programs will be organized to inspire and empower children, fostering a love for learning and enhancing their academic and personal development.

Implementation Strategy

The project will be executed through a series of planned activities:

  • April-May: Engagement with community stakeholders, identification of a suitable location, and procurement of educational materials and furniture.
  • May: Recruitment of volunteers to assist children in utilizing the resources effectively.
  • June: Launch of the center with a community engagement event to introduce the services offered.
  • June-December: Implementation of structured educational programs, mentorship connections, experiential learning activities, and continuous monitoring and evaluation to assess impact and make necessary improvements.

Building a Sustainable Support Network

BHF aims to create a strong and enduring network of advocates dedicated to supporting underprivileged children’s education. By involving various stakeholders, including community leaders, NGOs, and government bodies, the foundation seeks to ensure the project’s sustainability and long-term impact.
