Belie Health Foundation Bi-Annual Report 2024: A Comprehensive Review

We are excited to share the Belie Health Foundation (BHF) Bi-Annual Report for the first half of 2024. This report highlights our relentless efforts in promoting health, education, and capacity building within our communities.

Health Initiatives

  1. Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Campaigns: On March 31st, we conducted a free NCD screening in Muea Buea, providing BMI, weight, blood pressure, and height checks, along with consultations and health management guidance.
  2. Women’s Health Workshops: On April 12th, we hosted a workshop focusing on menstrual health, personal hygiene, and managing menstrual issues.
  3. Sexual and Reproductive Health Education: On April 25th, we educated 45 students at Full Gospel Secondary School (FUGOSEC) Buea on family health dynamics. Additionally, on May 25th, we marked Menstrual Hygiene Day with educational sessions and practical workshops on reusable pad making.

Educational Programs

Kids Learning Club (KLC): Amid the ongoing Anglophone crisis, the KLC provides a safe learning environment for vulnerable children. Our comprehensive program includes public speaking, arts, cookery, and more. The pilot phase successfully saw six children completing the program and showcasing their skills.

Capacity Building

  1. Economic Empowerment for Youths: On January 10th, we trained 20 youths in pastry making, equipping them with essential income-generating skills.
  2. Sewing Training for Women: On January 9th, we began a sewing training program for two female violence survivors who have completed their training and are producing their designs independently.

Youth Leadership

Mental Health Awareness: BHF Youth Leaders have been addressing adolescent mental health issues, discussing determinants and solutions to help peers facing mental health challenges.

Community Engagements

  1. CSO Impact Conference: Representatives from BHF attended the conference focused on building capacity and networking for more effective collaboration.
  2. Youth Empowerment: We facilitated sessions at various events, emphasizing the importance of identity, self-worth, and making better life decisions.

Upcoming Projects

  1. Back to School Support: Continuing our support for education.
  2. Breastfeeding and Child Nutrition Seminar: Focused on improving child health.
  3. Together Against NCDs Campaign: Expanding our health initiatives.
  4. She Is Project: Supporting survivors of violence against women and girls.
